This is a printAd project i did with photographer Sanjay Kothari from NY. The client is Motorola China and to be honest it wasn't easy to give birth to this picture! But we made it, that's what counts... Most of the broken pieces of glass were actually hand cut, to obtain the exact wanted shapes.

Thanks for your interest! I guess you want to know how to make the glass particles right? Well it’s first a manual cut of the main pieces, with a nice concentric web of cuts. Then I used rayfire to break and fragment pieces further and more randomly. When all the pieces are nice and ready I input them into a thinking particle system (particle should work as well) and ‘push’ these particles to have an exploding motion. A few smaller debris particles on top to give extra details. The whole rendered in vray and of course tweaked again in photoshop…
i really wanted to know how you made this effect… i am a student in san diego and would love to know. thank you.
